It looks like not many people are interested in having Delight for their 808 devices or not many people have this device.. Well I would go for first part..
I feel bad for the ones who have already contributed to Delight for 808 as till this pledge won't be completed, there won't be any Delight for 808 devices..
This feels really bad as Delight was used by so many users and hardly very few tried to contribute..
Anyways, I am still thankful to the ones who contributed but this blog will be closed after a month if this pledge won't be completed ..
I will spend my time on Android development ..
take care..

hi soni,
ReplyDeletei guess this dicission comes MUCH to early. Here in Germany ther are in fact nearly NO devices to buy. Just look at amazon.de, amazon itself has NO deviceto sell an other sellers want to high prices. If nobody can buy the device it might be difficult to give money. I already did that, but I have NO device yet.
I think it would be fair to wait, I dont think you have started delight for N8 just 4 weeks after launch of the N(, did you???
regards
marwallace / f.k.
I guess I wasn't aware about such facts.. I guess I should be waiting then.. coz it felt cheating not to do something with donations I already received.. :(
Deletethanks for this wise decission!
Deletethis might lead also to a lower price for your device as well.. and so maybe you/we dont need to collect the whole amount...
by the way, 808 price on amazon.de now is 620€ -> 740$ at the moment... other sellers (dont have devices too) want 560€ -> 680$... I guess a lot of people will wait for lower price...
hope you will develop delight 808 !!!
regards
marwallace
I hope for the same mate. :)
DeleteI have mine already I consider it to be the best Phone on the market !!
ReplyDeleteThere no marketing for this device
The prices are already falling I payed 21,000 THB around $640au for mine here in Thailand
But I see the price has already dropped to around 18,000 THB around $550au
Only Black and white phones here so far no Red ones yet
The phone is a Masterpiece!!!!!
I also here there are a few Reception problems with the Samsung S3
Yup., prices are going to be down and hopefully I won't need the full amount.. Red is not available here in India too.. btw my SGSIII is working just fine.. I am playing and modding it to the fullest right now.. Just want to play with 808 too now ;)
DeleteI want!! My n808 is coming in 10 days! Then i will start look for cfw, hope delight is an option! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteonce i will have saved up for an 808 i will also sponsor as much as i can. Will have to wait a little as a the phone is not available in Ireland only through one shop by special order and they are asking for 799€ and b my work contract has not been renewed and will cease on the 3rd. So it will take some time to save up. Delight was is and once you get your hands on it will be best cfw ever!
ReplyDeleteThanks mate :)
DeleteYes, I would also ask you got some more time
ReplyDeleteas it its really hard to get the device. I actually wanted a red one, too, but after waiting this long I am going to order a white one on Thursday
(I'm waiting to see if my wife bought me one for my birthday on Wednesday)
anyway, it its very hard to order the 808, even the big electronic stores in Germany are having a hard time ordering them
their its no waiting list, like for the sgsIII, but waiting for it seems even longer
:)
DeleteThey seem to have them here in Thailand in some stores But only white and black
ReplyDeleteHey Black looks great too
could not wait for the red one and the white one either...
ReplyDeletehave ordered yesterday at amazon the black one... YESSSSS ... delivery tomorrow...
I ordered my white one today... don't know how long it will be though
ReplyDeleteEDIT:
ReplyDeletejust got a call back from my local electronic store
Black 808 not available
Red 808 not available
White 808 available and ordered for me... arrival in about 2 weeks Roll Eyes Tongue Angry
Sweet.. Congrats mate.. oh, and congrats on getting Contributor status on DM.. :)
Deletetoday black and white available @ amazon.de
Deletebtw: what price do you pay?
I'm paying 569Euros
Deletep.s. 2 weeks now since I ordered.... still no sign of it...
I didn't want the black one anyway... the last 5 or 6 phones I had were all black or dark grey... time to change colors... I would have gotten red, but since that is not available either ... I'm getting white ...
received it yesterday... and what a shame... purple ink... already on his way back to amazon...
ReplyDeletehope for the next device...
Bad luck.. This is really stupid from Nokia.. Well hope you will get a perfect one this time..
DeleteI thought samsung made the displays?
DeleteMight be... But Nokia is controlling them with their hardware, is doing quality control after assembling (we hope at last) and finally sell them to us, the customers... So they are responsible to check that, and I bet they know it and they sell it even if they know this is a failure... it's a calculation what costs you more...
Deleteahh anyway, gettin' any about this this... Useless...
@ freaxa_r_us
ReplyDeleteacc. amazon.de black ones should be available again tomorrow... and be carfull with the purple ink... on my device it was anly when in lower light, but compared to my n8 it was very purple...
shame that they din't get that fixed since n8 (maybe they have no screens and now we get e7 screens with purple ink?!)
Just put a 64 Gig Micro Card in my 808 all is good
ReplyDeleteand working fine
I think the whole problem boils down to Nokia. See, they make great phones but let's be reasonable- they're too expensive and too few nowadays can have a different phone per year. Take for example N8, it was great but when someone like me still pays for that phone there's no way I can get a new device. On top of that, N8 would be more successful if Nokia had delayed a bit more the release of windows phones.I also think that android has become popular because it's not that expensive, plus the companies got really interested in the creation of variable applications. So, I hate to say that but I think most people got to know this blog as a N8 one. Maybe creating a new blog for 808 might increase the interest of 808 owners. Give it a try.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your input .. :)
DeleteI have already made a new 808 delight blog and I am waiting to get it activated when I have something to offer on that blog and currently I don't.. Most of my Delight users know me through this blog only so I thought this would be a better idea to let them know what's going on with Delight series and my future plans..
Even if this pledge won't succeed, I am not going to loose something.. I am happy with my SGSIII, I would have been much happier though as doing something with Symbian is always pleasing and refreshing.. :)
As an aside, many thanks for terrific work with Delight. I just upgraded from 3.6, which I installed way back in December '11...I couldn't wait any longer for Belle OFW at that time. Now, with a C drive that needed housekeeping, I decided to upgrade. 3.6 was incredibly stable for me...the decision to upgrade was more out of curiosity than need. In any event, I am very pleased with the result. Thanks again for some incredible work product.
ReplyDeleteso, you upgraded to v5.2 ?
DeleteSo, after three Weeks of waiting... I called my local electronics store and asked what the deal is ?¿?
ReplyDeleteHe said he has three deliverers... And the one that said he could do it, said it would be here on the 12th... Now he says the beginning of September
ffffffffffffuuuuuuuuu*****************
Indeed really frustrating... hope you will get it soon....
Deletewhy dont you just order it at amazon??? 529,- for black and 549,- for white one... ??? and you have it in hands 24hour later...
Deletehave mine since 3 weeks now. cam is realy good ;-)
soni: looks like we have to live without delight on 808???
regards
marwallace
Well it seems like that however I am going to try one last thing and if that fails too, I guess you would be right then.
Deletehi ashok ...its been so long and i know you are also busy but still as we always loving delight on n8 ..am now expecting a new delight might be 6.0 ...with new firmware base which nokia released 2-3days back ....hope we can find some last goodies from your side to our dying symbian ..fingers crossed !!
ReplyDeleteI am also one of the ones waiting for the price of the 808 to reduce! I am using the latest delight on my N8 and contributed what I could to your Amazing work!
ReplyDeleteBut at the moment, the 808 is still too expensive for me to buy especially because I really want the red one!
Once I get it, you can be assured that I will continue to contribute to your work. But please be patient with us as Nokia is still being very silly and keeping the price of the 808 high!
Let's hope after Sept 5th with maybe the announcement of Lumia Pureview, the price of the 808 will come down as there will be no need to get it anymore! --- Maybe WP8 will be sooo good that there will be no need for symbian or to get the 808 anymore either(Not likely tho)
