Slightly off-topic but since there isn't much to post here about Symbian nowadays, this post is for users who are moved on to Android and have a Oneplus2.

If you are/were on this blog then you must be a flasholic so to continue the feast, I am now building for Oneplus2.

I haven't yet reached up-to that point where I start building from the scratch but have been building unofficial versions for other Roms with my own modifications.

My first Android Rom Building work

 

Of course it's not made from complete scratch as I have still a lot to learn but it's a first step and a step is always a great place to start. 

Although I know when I started this blog, it was and it still is for Symbian enthusiastic people like us but time has changed and they have been moving on to other platforms including me.

Years back someone asked me about of any chance of Delight Roms in Android area and I wasn't sure, I am also not sure yet. 

This is my first project and if the result would be positive and would have time on my hands as this building costs too much hours, there might be a day for a special blog or community for Delight fans.

Of course the more I learn the more I would like to help others newbies like me.

So stay tune and play with your Android or Symbian phones and I'll keep bringing exciting news about this project. 

For now I am building it on Resurrection Remix sources.

This community was superb and I would like to start it again with something more concrete.

Broken 808? What I did to fix... What I found out...

 so, after days, months and years of excessive use of my 808, ...flashing, modding, extreme usage, etc.etc. etc. ...I have been getting really bad problems for over a week now...

Dropbox Qt problems on Symbian

Hello there,

*Update: FilesPlus got update with a fixed version, you can get it via AppList or meeki.mobi/download

you may have noticed that some Symbian apps like cuteBox, Dropian or FilesPlus can't login into Dropbox anymore.
I recently read multiple reports about this on Delight Blog, Symbian Forums or via Email. Most of them claimed a bug on Delight side, but that's not true:

Some users tested it on original firmware or other custom firmware like The One by Daniel or Mohican by Xeon, all have the same issues, the problem can be a:

a) reboot directly without of a usual shutdown (like a system application crash or stack overflow)
b) like a) but with a reboot loop
c) simple app crash
d) full freeze of the phone

if you try to login with your Dropbox account inside of the apps. Thanks to the testers (like Allstar Software, Ade and Adan from Symbian FTW and Matthew from the comments below) for these information! The mentioned applications are QtQuick based GUI apps which use QtWebKit to show the login page, so the issue must be there.
A reboot can mean a stack overflow, but we don't really know what's the problem without of debugging an own Qt build what's not possible on Symbian. It's not related to JavaScript because it happens even with disabled JavaScript, so it seems to be related to the HTML code.

My guess about this: It seems like it's a QtWebKit bug which was unknown before and recent updates on Dropbox's login page uncoverd it. It affects Symbian Belle Refresh and FP2 and Anna for sure, maybe also s60v5, could somebody check that?

To test your device open this link: https://www.dropbox.com/1/oauth/authorize?oauth_token=sf0AFWhTDbJHtmnU&oauth_callback=&display=mobile (the Dropbox login link of the free app FilesPlus) in a Qt based browser like Star Browser, it will load a bit and than reboot your device. The default Nokia browser or Opera Mobile will show the usual login page without of any issues.

We can hope that Nokia/Microsoft Mobile will bring an update for us, but I doubt that.
Updating Symbian Belle Refresh and FP2 to the latest Qt (Core, GUI, Mobility, Quick, WebKit etc.) versions would require a firmware update -> which means a lot of work -> which means coasts and they probably don't want to spend much money on Symbian. We can see that because they killed the Nokia Internet Radio server, and running this one wasn't expensive for sure, or via the Gallery ShareUI services, which are broken (most of them) and there's still no fix.
Sadly we can't try to compile the latest 4.8.6 for Symbian, because that would require a paid compiler and Symbian Belle PDK, which isn't public.


I only can tell you that the support from our side is still there and that the Delight isn't dead yet. Symbian is still the only mobile phone OS I am using and that won't change in the next weeks, and even after that I don't plan to leave the scene. Updates for the 808 and N8 will come for sure and Eric will care about the other devices and translation in his free time.

DELIGHT CUSTOM FIRMWARES: Information on Updates & Plans

some of you may have noticed that I haven't been online frequently in the last 4 - 6 weeks. I have been really busy in my personal life and needed a break.

After I had tried to "Delight" as many devices as possible in the beginning of the year, which used up all my spare time, it was time for a relax.... even though there was nothing relaxing about what I still had to do.

Huellif / Fabian has been working on a couple fixes, updates and new Delight app functions ... i.e. Delight development and is currently getting ready for his exams. I am on vacation from work since this week and it's time to get back to my hobby of making Delight.

The last 2 days I have been reading ALL the blog comments to get a picture on what there is to do...
tomorrow I am going to do the same on Dailymobile to gather bug reports as well...

ALL in favour of the "BIG FIX & OPTIMISE & UPDATE - UPDATE"

plan is to fix all the problems, bugs and issues that users stated in the last two months...
and if all goes well, then maybe Delight  the E6 & the C6-01 RM-601

These are the comments content what I have so far:

ALL Devices:
- weather widget and resources check for forgotten files
- Public Transportation completely deleted or re-installed - not sure yet
 - Change clock mifs - so all analogue clocks are the same
- Update all widget mifs in Delight folder
- make sure default mifs are available and correct
- clean up ecom plugins
- Update all to latest Delight app
- Check all patches in all Devices
- check all avkon mods + folders - apparantly some got mixed up
- change Effects to latest builds
- Delight Theme: add huellif widgets, email background too bright read
- Crop wall out of pics - someone asked for the Delight Theme background as a jpg
- check connuiutilsnotif.rXX is in all firmwares: disables no connection popup
- metadataeditor translations are not all working
- Update java runtime enviroment - port from 808 to all devices

- all languages ecom needs fixing in all versions because of broken plugins: finnish, danish
- Splashscreen gif and sound from C not working in all firmwares
- Cahjoss - fix date in other regions - Bug is because of dd/mm/yyyy or mm/dd/yyyy and etc...
- emoticons resources not working in all firmwares after using SMS Themer
- Cache back to default resources for Delight app - new function
- hindi and bangla writing - add info to blog releases

All the bugs except for a couple are not too trivial for me, so updating will be fairly easy, but it needs time and time again. I have to update 350+ flashing files. Aproximatly around 3000 files
not counting flashing and testing and developing and cooking and uploading and everything else I find down the road...

 Today I want to explain the Delight exclusive mods and the Delight app.

We keep on getting inquiries, on "how to change this?" & "how to change that?"

Hi everybody,

I just bought myself a house 2 months ago and after all payments were done and all the legal crap,
I am finally getting the keys tomorrow.

I have to renovate a little (painting, new floorboards, some rooms with scratch coat)
and of course I have to move all my stuff

Internet speed is going to change from 32mbits (which it never was) tv cable
to 22600 LTE with 2x 15db beam & directional additional antenna's (for stability)

soooo
this means I have a lot of work to do, and will not be online for at least 4 weeks.
only over phone, but not for translations and uploads at all

I am going to try to make the last translations tonight. If I can't make it, then you guys are going to have to wait till September

Making Delight even better - Need your help with translations - USER RELATED PROJECT

Hi guys,

• a lot of you reported to me, that you can't read or understand the "Resolver", "Updater" or other Delight exclusive apps.

• and some are having problems with the Meta Data Editor mod (Mp3 Tag Editor mod) - some are still english, some make crashes, some work

So I decided to open this project to you guys, so you can help me translate Delight to perfection

It will take about 30min to 1 hour to translate it for an individual language, but if I do it, it would take at least 45x 30min/1hour = 30 to 45 hours - IF I COULD SPEAK THE LANGUAGE PERFECTLY, which I can not,
so it would take at least double the time to do it with googe translator, which is a pain in the ...

and I still have to put your translations into the correct files, so it is still a lot of work for me.

SO, if you are willing to improve the Delight translations with me, then read the rest of this post
...they are for all Devices alike, so it doesn't matter if you have C7, N8 or 808

...if you are willing to do a translation, then please write in the comments, which language you are going to take over, so we don't get hundreds of the same language

Regarding Delight PR1 & Anna Firmware Files

In last few days, many users asked me for Delight Anna series firmware files which were uploaded on various hosts, unfortunately I don't have any backups with me anymore for those files.

Since I have already moved on to Android it's tough for me to be in both worlds simultaneously however I tried as much as possible.

I still have Delight Belle v5.2 (last version I made for N8 guys) but not before that. I am still trying to find out if any Delight lover has those files and if so, I would update this blog about the same.

Hopefully some Delight lover is still on such version.

Till then enjoy the current Delight Team's wonderful work.

Going to change my translation standards in upcoming versions

Hi everybody

while doing the translations for Delight 808 v1.0...I decided to change the way I translate

in earlier versions I would change the whole Ui, so when for example an arabic speaking french man could use the same version as a french speaking arab. and so on

Now I decided to go for ONE Ui translation to the rofs2 and make multiple rofs3's with writing languages
so in upcoming versions it will be needed to
1. download the base files / only english files
2. download a translated Ui rofs2... if wanted, which will contain that writing language of course
3. download an additional writing files rofs3 ... if wanted

This way:
- translation rofs2's will smaller in size
- unneeded Ui languages will be avoided, since everybody always chooses one Ui language anyway
- rofs3's might have to gain a little bit of size
- uploading will take less time for me
- trafficing will be reduced

so all in all, I guess you can see, that it is an improvement
if you have any objections or improvement idea's, please let me hear them in the comments
because if not, then this is the way I am going to release Delight 808 translations

more than one writing file and dual Ui sets only on request

Hi everybody...

just wanted to let you know what is going on:

News on C7 Delight v6.099

I started working on the C7 Delight v6.099 and I'm getting it done very fast...

It will include:
- all Delight modifications
- all translations that were made for N8 (more by request)
- just some small fixes need to be done
- I included all the new widgets that were released yesterday for Fp2  firmware's

•    mirror
•    stopwatch
•    webview widget
•    flashlight toggle    
•    single contact communication

- have to include the translations for the new widgets
- Xplore updated to free full 1.60 Version
- store updated
...and of course everything else what made N8 Delight great

otherwise everything is running really good

I am going to try to finish it tonight and tomorrow...
But if I can't release it by tomorrow, then it can't be released till next week

p.s. I could show you some screens, but since I want it to be "almost" the same as N8's Delight, you can just simply go over to the N8 Release post and look at the pictures there :P :D

Downloads and popularity of Delight Custom Firmwares

well, after reaching a download rate of 3000 on the 23rd (2 days ago), which I was really happy about...
...today I checked the downloads again and almost fell off my chair

4222 downloads !!!

 

which means 1200 in 2 days... thats soooo awesome...
(even though nobody cares enough for donating a dollar or two :P )

I guess it is good, that the  firmware is nearly bugless...afaik there were a couple very minor bugs and the rest were just requests for matter of taste. but like I said: I guess , because feedback is reduced to: "when will v6.1 arrive" and "how to change this, how to change that"
A little more positive feedback would be nice

Its really a shame that noone finds the time to push the google button more often, or the facebook share button or twitter, let alone sign up as a "follower" to the blog...
I mean we don't constantly update, so it is not like you are going to be spammed with emails

Anyway, I am really happy by the results this firmware has achieved and really glad it is so popular...
but a little more support by the Users would be helpful.

Delight for 808

Today cooking Nokia 808 Delight started,

I only added the special Delight stuff (empty UDA, Resolver, Backup & Restore, wallpaper etc.) and it worked fine after first try.

I will add all the mods, apps and other stuff in next weeks.
I am really busy (football, theatre, working etc.), so don't ask for a release date.

We will provide a perfect translated and bug free Custom Firmware as soon as possible.
